Blazer tank installed in swb step 72 filler help needed

I installed a blazer tank on my 72 swb step and am to the point of installing the bed wood. Does anyone have any pointers on installing the filler? I wanted to do a side marker fill but the body shop wasnt interested. I am going to drill a hole in one of the boards and install it in the bed. I bought a flush fill cap and some 1-1/2" fuel filler hose. I also bought a 1-1/2" 45* but it looks like that wont work.

Sure. There isn't that much cutting involved. Here is the link to the FAQ.

Re: Blazer tank installed in swb step 72 filler help needed

I have seen this thread in the faq section. I am just apprehensive about working on a painted truck. I actually have another truck project in the works that i was going to do this to BEFORE paint. The bed is disassembled so it should be easier that way! Maybe I will go ahead and do it for practice and ise what i learn on the painted truck. I have the tank filler amd door off an 82 suburban for it. I also have an 85 s10 blazer that i can rob the filler neck and door off of. I iust bought two permacaps on ebay for $34 shipped.

The only question i have (currently) is how long a piece of the flexible filler hose do I need and do you have a source? I looked on ebay and the only listing i found was for $4.50/ inch (not!)

I did a side marker fill on a fleetside. It wasn't difficult. I bought the fuel hose at my local parts house. It is expensive, but you need fuel proof rubber, no two ways around that. I had some tubing bent at an exhaust shop so that I only needed a few inches of rubber fill hose.
If you are careful cutting the inside of the bed you can make it so that a Blazer interior fuel line cover will work on your fleetside. You can have a paint shop make a spray can of paint that will match and you should be able to paint the Blazer cover where it will match really close.

Thanks for the tips. No Kragen's in Texas but I live near a big lake and there are several marine dealers i can check at for the filler hose.
