I AM RUNNING 17x9.5 EAGLE ALLOY 211 WITH 4.5 BS, TIRE SIZE IS 285-60-17, THEY ARE ABOUT 30.5" TALL AND HAVE A 11.5" SEC WIDTH, ALSO REAR HAS A 4" DROP WITH COIL SPRINGS.
I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH A 5" BS. I GET SOME SLIGHT RUBBING WHEN I TURN IN TO A DRIVEWAY THAT GOES UP HILL, THE BODY FLEX LETS THE BED MOVE, I AM GOING TO TRY AN ADJ PAN HARD BAR TO RECENTER THE REAR, ALSO I HAVE A NEW SWAY BAR SETUP THAT I AM GOING TO TRY ON THE REAR.

I have looked into getting 17x11 for my truck, but here is why I have decided not to. I think a truck needs more sidewall than a car, so I want to run 275/50/17s up front on a 17x9 or 9.5 rim. On the back alls I could find was 315/35/17...much shorter than the fronts would be. So I will go with the 17x9 rims all the way around.

I have a set of 17x8 and 17x9.5 Eagle 212's, that I ran on my old '82 2wd Blazer. I ran Nitto 255/50's and 275/50's with no problems. These are pretty affordable tires. I hope to run them on my '71 swb. 5 inch backspace on the front and 4.5 inch backspace on the back.

i have 265-60-17 at the front and 285-60-17 at the back.
i had been running eagle 212's 17x8 all around with 275-55-17... both tire combinations give more that 5"+ of side wall, they look good and you still can haul the trash off without worring about pot holes, road joints, and the uneven pavement!!!!
