We've talked about the wheelbase, and the width, but there's also the issue with the rise and fall of the frame front to back.
You have the front section where the motor sits. Then the middle section where the cab sits. Then the rear section for the bed. As captain has pointed out repeatedly in the forums.
In addition to all discussed so far, the middle section of the frame where the cab sits is too high, resulting in the front clip sitting too high.
There's far too many disadvantages for using the newer frame itself. The newer frame accomplishes nothing. It's the newer goodies under the frame that we want.
Take the easier, sensible, and practical route; just use the goodies from the newer model. Mount them to the correct and legal frame.

For someone tht doesn't like low it would've been alright. the frame sat 3 inches below the rocker but I like to hear my rockers on the ground. So I went with full frame build
