Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

Thanks Tommy. It's looking like early next year before I start. I can't tear down the truck until after early December since my wife set up pictures with it and the boys for their 1 year old pictures. She'd be a little mad if the truck was torn apart lol

Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

I've missed a bunch since I last checked in. Very nice work on the cab paint. That power plant is insane. This thing is going to rip the tread off the tires if you aren't careful. I have been looking at the LS2 engines and those things cost some major $$$.
Maybe by the time I start on my 67 Camaro I will have the cash saved.
Keep the pictures coming

Nothing new to report on the truck.

We did do the boys 1 year old pics today with the truck. So far this is the only one the photographer sent us.

Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

Finally got to spend a little time on the truck today so I pulled the rear bumper, bed and pressure washed the frame/rear end. Didn't get a lot done in the few hours I had but at least I got the ball rolling. If weather and time permits over the next few days I plan to wire wheel frame, rattle can paint it, install new springs and blocks in the rear, install rear shock relocate brackets, mount the new fuel cell and get it plumbed and possibly wired to the engine bay. That's enough of the boring stuff so on to the pics.

Before the pressure washer

After the pressure washer and fuel cell mocked up

Thanks Brian. Where have you been? Hiding from the cold I assume

Thanks. About to reposition it in the garage and get the heater going so hopefully I can get the frame cleaned up here in a bit. It's too cold to work in the driveway this morning

Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

I got a little work done today in the cold. Got the frame cleaned up and painted, upper rear shock relocate brackets installed and the new springs in. I was told it had a 5" rear drop but I don't think it did. The new springs are 5" and it was a noticeable difference by comparing the springs and measuring at the frame. Unfortunately I had to put the crap shocks back on since I haven't ordered my new ones yet. I also didn't paint the back of the drums since I'll convert to disk later anyway.

Thanks. Those little guys take most of my truck time and funds up these days but well worth it.

Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

So I got a few more things done today. Got the mcgaughys track bar installed, fuel cell mounted with a few fittings installed, fuel pressure regulator/filter mocked up, hole cut in the bed for the fuel filler neck, the bed and bumper remounted. I'll finish up the rear suspension when I do the front and install all four shocks at once. I also installed some new knobs on the interior.

Thanks Clayton. I'm hoping to finish up the suspension and run the fuel lines next time I'm home. If time permits I'll pull your engine and install mine lol

Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

what rear springs did you buy? I was told the springs in mine are 5" and they have way more coils in them than the ones you put in.

I bought the mcgaughys 5" drop springs from a vendor here on the board. I'll see if I can get the part number

Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

Your truck looks great! I know you said you're running 5" drop in the rear, I assume it's 2-1/2"-3" up front? Also, what size tires you have? front and rear. Looking forward to more pictures.

Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

Thanks. The final drop will be 4.5/6. I have some 1" blocks that I didn't install yet because I wanted to drive and enjoy it without too much reverse rake. When I redo the front I'll install the blocks and all four shocks. Right now the fronts are 255/50r17 and the rears are 275/50r17. These wheels will be replaced in the future for probably a set of 20x8.5 and 20x12s. Still undecided on tire size for those

Re: My first C10-LS2/4L70E swap

Really nice looking truck, love the ls2 swap. She is going to be a beast. I'm subscribed to see what you do with it, especially with those 20's you plan on changing to.
