My new project - '72 Custom10
Picked up a new one today. I guess I've been bitten by the bug.
Bought a 1972 C-10 Custom that was well optioned. 350/350 combo w/factory a/c, tilt, ps/pb, deluxe trim, cargo light, am radio, and I can't remember what else. Oh....and its a Highlander...or at least the seat was/is. Interesting part is the truck was originally white but now is red and white w/white top....yet it still has the GREEN highlander seat in it. Would need some professional help to sew up/replace some vinyl but its in pretty good shape. Red has some clear coat coming off in spots so its certainly not the original paint. Guy I'm buying it from won it in a raffle 5-6yrs ago as is and hasn't done anything but drive it...tho he hasn't used it much in the last year or more. Runs and drives OK but will need going thru. One nice feature....has an alarm system with power door locks. Oh....the pics. Supposed to finalize things tomorrow and will get some then. Here are two from the ad.

Nice....very nice!! The red/white paint is probably my next favourite colour combo on these trucks.
Looks very original and like its very nicely optioned, particularly with the highlander package......I'm lookin' forward to seeing more pics!! (oh and don't forget the SPID_ Its great to see them still show up for sale when they are not all cut/slammed/bammed or beat.....there is still hope! Great score Kurt. Coley

Beautiful, that's essentially the exact paint job I would pick if I could afford it :-)

Re: My new project - '72 Custom10
Thanks guys. Well its home now. Its been sitting so its dirty and needs a thorough cleaning but everything seems to work except the a/c. He said someone broke the "pot metal" temperature control...fan works tho.
If I read the SPID right it was an all white truck but was repainted before the PO got it. When I was looking...it almost looks like it was only painted in the red areas and the white was original. Not certain on that one tho. Has some rust bubbles in a few places but is in surprisingly good shape, straight, and original. Red paint, alarm system w/electric door locks, and the wheels....the rest seems as it came. My '68 gave me trouble today....electronic throttle body just quit working. After a good going over and a couple of restarts and I was calling the wife for a wrecker. Decided to crank it one more time and wa-la...pedal was working again. Brought it straight home and will have to pull it apart and see whats wrong.

Re: My new project - '72 Custom10
Well looking at the SPID its a YG8 Highlander....meaning its the highest "package" of 3 they had for it. I've been looking closer and this thing has got it all and original...other then the addition of the red paint....as it was a white truck. I'm seeing everything under the hood as it should be, regulator in place and wired in, running the original dizzy and coil, the gas/charcoal canister, the rams horn manifolds, etc, with the exception of an Edelbrock carb and a late model filler in place of the oil cap but it seems to have all its original "emissions" stuff....oh and the wheels. It does have its spare and spare tire carrier under the bed tho.
I'm going to clean it up and try to fix whats needed...and reassess. I'm thinking I don't want to "restomod" it and it should stay original. This is a nice, straight, mostly complete, mostly original, well optioned truck. For those that like the look and features.....and THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE THREAD...it may be for sale before too long.
