Rubber or poly
Just picked up my 72 Cheyenne...was gonna just tinker but after looking at some builds on here am taking off the frame to get serious. Have you guys seen a big advantage to poly vs rubber body mount bushings...pics to come!

I put poly on all of my trucks and have no regrets. I didn't notice any difference in ride quality and I know they'll last.
My faith in repro rubber is about as low as congress's approval rating!

loads of guys dump the poly bushings on thier street trucks in a very short period of time due to the annoying extra vibrations transmitted by theem on daily driven trucks

Another word for body bushings is "body cushion". If you want cushion between you and the road you'll go with the original design still used in new trucks today. People see OEM parts all worn out and feel they need to be "upgraded". They are worn out because they are over 40 years old. Put new rubber in and you'll never wear them out with the use you put of your old truck.

I personally used rubber. Most everyone that changes mounts is because they are worn. Switching from worn rubber to new poly is a big difference. It would take a true A/B comparison with rubber and poly to really notice the differences, if any. To me it's like arguing about a 5 hp difference in a motor. The dyno sheet proves it, but your butt is struggling to find proof.

All rubber with exception of sway bar.
My understanding is poly on sway bars is a noticeable difference |

Thanks guys this really helps me get started. Do you like LMC for most of the parts...I see there are a few other options. I have owned a few of these trucks but never restored, done some novas and used Classic Industries...any thoughts?
Here is a photo of the truck before I bought it and one in my garage...looks better in there! 72 Cheyenne, original drivetrain...had a new front drivers fender and maybe a coat of paint in the past but appears to be all virgin sheetmetal. Some fun options with A/C, metal floor in bed...excited to get started |

That truck looks nice as is.Why don't you just drive it.A frame off could take years to complete.Make sure you get your fill of driving it before you rip it apart.Ask me how I know.

To clarify, I do not intend to do a full resto, just pull body off restore frame a but and body mounts and replace some trim and interior...gonna add up
