Heater Fan Problems - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey guys and gals
My heater fan hasn't worked right ever since I got my truck 2 yrs ago. Today I decided to see if I could tackle it. The blower would never turn on until I got the slider all the way to the right, and then it was really picky, you had to have the slider exactly in the right place.
Well, turns out I had a new switch for it in the glove box, nice surprise. I put the new switch in, now I have 3 speeds, and they all seem to work good, but they only turn on once I get the slider to the last third of its range.
This is my fourth 69 - 72, and I don't remember it being that way on my others. Is that the way it works? Or is there a way to adjust it so it works through the whole range?
I guess its not a huge problem, since it does work on all three speeds now, but if its an easy fix I would rather have it be proper.

Check this switch--you did not say which lever but it must be the one that controls this switch as the others only control doors. Fan should work on all 3 speeds with all levers to far left. Adjust cable so it works this way.

sorry - forgot to mention that I don't have A/C, so I am pretty sure I don't have that switch down there, it seems to be a problem between the slider lever that we slide back and forth, and the switch that is directly connected to that. No way to adjust it that I could find, but sometimes I can't find the obvioius.

The switch doesn't engage until you are 2/3 the way over. The first part is opening the air duct I believe. You can feel when you start into the switch positions.

Check to make sure that the plastic bushing is on the switch also.
