Re: What is a Square Body?

I know I've told this story before (...maybe even in this thread...) but I didn't like the '88's when I first saw them. I hurried and bought an '87 before it was too late.

Funny thing is: I didn't like the '81's when I first saw them (which, of course, are essentially the same as an '87). I hurried and bought an '80 before it was too late (lol).

My dad used to tease me. He would say "...if you were around in my dad you woulda seen the '55 Chevys, not liked 'em and hurried to buy a '54"!

Oh Keith, don't tease me. I <3 the K2XX GMCs, I cannot imagine what's on the drawing board next. *crosses fingers* (manual transmission, 8-10 speed Ally, 4500/5500 solid front axle chassis cab...not all in the same truck)

Thats the funny part, I asked how old they were and a few of them were 25+!!!

I've always called my '96 either GMT-400 or my "90s model". I will not ever refer to it as a square body.. And to me... its not old enough for "old body style" either.

Try to imagine working here before they were even designed....

...that'll make a person feel old.

I remember how shocked I was when I first seeing customer owned GMT400's that were all rotted and rusted out. I was used to seeing them "before they were new".

I have a friend we call "Old Man Taylor" (or "OMT"). We've called him that for some reason since he was in his mid-30's.

At any rate he was talking about one of his recent birthdays when he turned 65. He commented about how old he felt.

His mother, hearing this, said "...you wanna feel old? Try having a son that is turning 65..."

My Father when he became a Grandfather said: "I have no problem being a grandfather...It's sleeping with a Grandmother that's bothering me."

No. It's 'just' a 67. No further description is required. Kinda' like Chuck Norris.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Or more literally, Truck Norris (John McGann of Hot Rod Magazine fame's 700+hp C10)

Re: What is a Square Body?

Have always called 67-68 slants 69 to 72 flats and 73-87 square. Slant and flats referring to the leading edge of the hood

Funny, then the 73-87/91 went from flat to slant

And the 88-98 seems to me to be a remake of the 67/68 slant.

Actually, the 60-66 should be the original "square body." It seems like GM pickups just went back and forth after 1960. Since about 2008 they are all definitely pretty square.
