Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom

So it has been a while, but I finally have an update! But I also have a problem
When I installed my rack & pinion setup I remember that it was necessary to move the engine perches to the rearward holes right?
Well, when you do that the bottom of the perch does not line up to anything

Do I just drill a new hole or am I missing something? It also seems that will move my motor back a considerable amount. I am a little worried cause I will not know for sure till' I get the cab on and the engine in.

I did send an email to Rob and No Limit asking this question, hopefully everything is ok. In no real hurry to get them installed right now as I still have to take them to the powder coater

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom

I think I am getting to my conclusion, I am thinking about just drilling the hole to fit the bottom part of the perch. Rob brought up a good point, moving the motor back even slightly will help increase performance and drive-ability. If the fire wall gets in the way, the firewall will just have to make way!

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom

So I was helping a customer order some accessories last week for a car he just bought, we got to talking about cars and he was telling me about all the cars he has had in the past. I had told him about how i am building my 71 and we talked a bit about it nothing too much just kinda in passing. So he shows back up this past Saturday and hands me a zip-lock bag full of stickers and vinyls of bow ties and some other stuff, including the one pictured below. It is a great looking sticker but don't really go with my truck. I would hate for this to go to waste, would anybody want this? Not selling it, that would not be right, but if someone needs it it is yours!

Sorry there hasn't been any updates lately, been kinda tight on money. Working on the powder coating the wheels, so there should be some really cool pics to come within the next month or so........

Thanks! I hope to have the trailing arms on tonight. I ordered new coil spring clamps from LMC as well, so when those get here I can mount up the springs as well!

What's the plate on top of the driveshaft opening? Is the cross member flipped and that's for the carrier bearing? I ask because I don't have one on mine.

Yeah, mine has a strange one on it, it took me a while to find the correct one a while back when I had to replace it.

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom

well, I found a powder coater willing to do the two-tone power coating in my wheels. Although the design is going to have to change up a little bit in order to make it look right. He is also offering to coat my wilwood calipers in blue at the same time. Now admittedly, I had considered powder coating the calipers before but then I loose the wilwood logo too. "Not so!" he says. He tells me he can have a "high temp" vinyl made and then cleared into the caliper. So that go me to thinking, what if instead on the wilwood logo I have him make a C/10 logo on there? Kinda have it stretched across the front of the caliper. I think this could be really cool looking and extremely unique. Thoughts?

That might be pretty cool. Like a custom touch. Isn't the lettering on the caliper indented into the surface though?
