from 83 to 73 grille change out?

what all would I need to trade out if I was to change the front of my 83 Chevy with a 73 Chevy? I know that I have to change, hood, grille, bezels and maybe fenders? Can somebody please let me know, I plan on going to the junkyard this weekend and getting those parts I'd need to change it over.

You've got to change from the firewall forward. Fenders, hood, core support, hood hinges, filler panel, everything.

You will also need to modify the front of the frame and the radiator support mounts need to move.

The hood mounts differently, too. The 83 style has a short cowling between the hood and windsheild, the 73 hood comes all the way back, so you'll need to remove/modify those areas to fit, as well as hinge mountings.

I've never done it, the previous owner did it, but it wasn't done correctly. Half the work is already done for me, and it's STILL going to be a significant project. It's quite the undertaking. It's not impossible, but you might rethink the whole project when you find out all that is involved.

Backdating like he's wanting to do is very easy. The earlier type of hinges mount to the fenders. When you mount the old style fender to the cab, the hinges are ready to mount up without mods.

It's updating from round headlight to square headlight that takes the modifications to the firewall.

Thanks! Sounds fairly easy though. I'll keep you posted on what I decide to do
