New chrome on a patina truck?

Does anyone else like the look of new chrome on a patina truck or am I just nuts? I was thinking about ordering new chrome front bumper and grille for my 52 5 window.. It already has the new stainless headlight rings.. what do you think? I do not want to commit some sort of "patina sin"

personally I like the look of patina rigs with new chrome or white painted bits to offset the look. When left completely patina'd out, you get ,more comments like " when you going to paint it?" vs. adding a few upgrades and the masses seem to "get it".

I believe heavily in following a "theme" on any build. I don't care it's a my house, following a theme always provides the best look in my opinion.

It's like the full on custom 50 Merc, chopped top, skirts, white walls with Olds Fiesta caps.........and a billet steering wheel. :P It makes no sense, it's like wearing a tux with a pair of swim trunks.

Just my opinion that's all.

new chrome on a patina'd truck in my opinion makes the overall look intentional vs "don't have the $$ for paint"

In the end though, it's your truck and as long as it is what you want it to be who cares what some passer by thinks. I respect any old truck that rolls down the road.... especially since mine isn't at that stage yet!

I like it, but that's just my taste. I have some nice patina on the truck I'm workking on now. My plans are new chrome, with the underhood painted and detailed out, and the interrior painted and detailed out. If my tastes change, then I may finish the body

If you keep an eye on eBay, trucks of this "flavor" are going for more than completly finisied out trucks.

Utimatly it's your ride, you need to do what makes you happy.

I agree with those who already said if you like it, what does it matter what other people think. So, the question is, do YOU, Wildfifty2, like the look of chrome on a truck with patina? I think it looks sharp. It adds some clean areas to an otherwise drab truck but it depends on what it looks like in the first place.

I totally agree.. and that is the route i was headed.. I just wanted a santity check as to what others thought looks good.. I have already detailed the interior and replaced all of the rubber mats and such.. I really like the clean original look inside.. My other toy is a 56 chevy belair with a shiny paint job and more billit under the hood than i care to admit... so this is a direction i have not had much experience with... Thanks again for your responses..

this looks good... its when you mix the chrome bumper with the white rusted grille that throws me off

Is it original or mostly original patina? Or fake patina? Doesn't matter, it is YOUR truck to do what YOU want to it...
Or check swap meets, Ebay, Craigslist for somewhat clean original parts. Many original parts clean up pretty well.
