Frame Swap
Is the LWB or the SWB frame the one to use? Whomever had this suburban before I did, had done a V8 swap and cut the frame to accommodate the motor mounts for whatever reason. Id rather do a frame swap than try to repair the cut frame. Any suggestions?

What year frame are you planning to use? I am looking at doing a 2001-2005 Chevy truck or suburban frame swap so I have todays luxuries with 1966 looks.

I am not sure what year is best, I am on a tight budget. I figured late 70s early 80s for me. My biggest question I guess is that if there is a difference in using a frame from a short bed or a long bed?

why not show us a picture of your predicament and maybe we can help solve the problem. you will have a lot more work putting a later frame under it than anything else

The C10 Suburbans are the same wheelbase as a shortbed pickup. You DO NOT want to go to all the work involved in installing your body onto a '73+ frame. I agree with Ron. Post some pics of the hack job on your frame and lets see if it isn't a whole lot easier to just fix the frame you have.

If you're on a tight budget, and have the skills that would be required to do a frame swap, then it would probably be cheaper and easier to repair what you've got.
My recommendation would be to find someone with a frame who would cut out sections of the frame for you. Then just cut out the bad sections of yours and do full penetration welds as you splice the new sections back in.

I do have both sides of the frt frame rails from a 65 suburban . if I can remember they are both 48" long from the bumper mount back

Thanks for the great info all. I will post some pics of the "beautiful" craftsmanship on the frame. This project is going to second place, I decided to start working on my 66 nova wagon, it has been sitting in my dads garage in KY since 2008, time to go retrieve and get it running
