Cargo light install question.

I want to install a cargo light and I am pretty good on the installation itself. My question is about how I can reduce/eliminate any damage to the paint. I wish I would have cut the hole before I painted, but I didn't know I would want the cargo light until I saw the truck all done. It just looked kind of bare to me.

So what is the best way to cut into the sheet metal and save the paint around the cut? Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

Masking tape around where the template is to go, then touch up paint of some sort on the bare metal where the hole saw goes into the cabskin. Jim

I've never done it but if I were to, I'd apply tape to the area I was to cut. It'll keep the paint chipping to a minimum. I'd drill the four corners just large enough to get a jig saw blade in and use a very fine metal cutting blade.
I wouldn't worry if the paint chipped a little because the rubber mount (On the stock light) is quite thick.
