How much drop do I have?

How much drop would you experts out there say I have? The suspension is very bad (think i need to redo all with ECE 4-6 kit) just dont know if id be as low as I am now. Bought the truck exactly how you see it. Im 17, its my first car. Had it for about 7 months now. Does the truck have Drop Spindles already? Please help out. I can put more pictures of anything you might need to see. Rear springs are cut and clamped.

You've got a real mess on your hands there.

First, you do have drop spindles as far as I can tell. Its hard to tell exactly from that camera angle.

Second, your driver side control arm is hammered.

You have a bad power steering leak which has soaked the entire driver side of the suspension.

Whatever suspension you wind up putting under the truck, with those tiny little low profile tires on those billet wheels, its gonna ride bad.

1) fix that power steering leak
2) pressure wash and clean everything under there
3) completely rebuild the suspension. You're gonna need another driver side lower arm.
4) use the ECE 4/6 kit like you mentioned. You can save the money on spindles.
5) run a 28-29 inch tall rear tire and a 26-27" or so front tire.

You'll be left with a truck that drives as good as factory and can be driven daily without any unpleasantness. I'm not just spending your money or talking out my ass here. That recipe above is how I build all my trucks.

Ok. Thank you, I already have the lower and upper control arms for the truck I got off another truck. So that's taken care of, how can I solve that power steering leak situation?

Like Kevin said its hard to tell if you have drop spindles from that angle (But it appears you do)...

Most PS leaks are at the fittings, It wouldnt hurt to replace the PS hoses completely IMO. Like TXfirefighter said fix that first, you may need to pressure wash it first to help find the leak.

There are two seals on the power steering box that often leak. One is where the steering shaft goes in, beneath the coupler. The other is on the bottom where the pitman arm bolts on.

The kit to change them both is maybe 15 dollars. If you're pretty mechanically inclined, changing them is maybe an hour job including r&r the box off of the truck. If you're not comfortable going into it, you can buy a reman box.

Seems like every truck I've built in the last ten years has both seals just pouring fluid when I get them. .

Upper seal. Box removed. This is where the steering shaft goes into the box.











Lower seal. This is where the pitman arm bolts on.



The rusty washer is just what I used to install the seal. It's not part of the box.
