Stainless exhaust options
Pardon if this has been answered before.
I am looking for a single stainless exhaust for my truck, which is a 72 longbed GMC half ton 2wd 350. I have removed the carrier bearing and crossmember and have a one piece driveshaft, so my old Heartthrob dual setup has that funky step to it where it goes under the carrier bearing crossmember that I no longer need. I don't intend to go around the axle, yet, and I can accomplish much of it with just straight pipe. What I really need is just a stainless Y-pipe that connects to the stock ramhorns and dumps to one 3" pipe. Does anyone sell anything like that? Especially if there is a ball end available. At that point, I'll just ball end a stainless pipe and weld it to a stainless muffler and turndown and be pretty darned happy. I just don't want to try to bend/weld up a Y pipe in the garage. Thanks

They came stock with y-pipes, but I doubt anyone would bother to make up one to 3". Maybe for the 2 1/2" corvette ram horns..? Haven't seen that y-pipe, but they were going for performance...

At least something with a mandrel bent Y pipe, I can always cut off the exit and weld on my own if it's carbon.

Go to a heavy truck parts house. They usually sell universal common exhaust parts from 3" up by Donaldson, Riker, Stemco, Grand Rock and other lesser known brands in anodized steel.
Or you can call Stainless Works in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. 800-878-3635-ext 233 for Heath Kohler,Commercial Sales Mgr. or email heath@stainlessworks.net You'd be surprised at their capability to make anything you need as they make exhaust for some nationally advertised names. |

Tony,
I am OK with those, but what I really wanted was a mandrel bent pipe which connected from the ram horns directly into one 3" pipe on one side, with all bends intact. Otherwise I am left building the rest of the Y pipe from scratch. I can do that with carbon, but all the same, I'd rather not if something is off-the-shelf.

That's the fallback position. It's just hard to believe that there isn't a product ready for us. Also, I am not set up to do stainless tubing like that, so it'll have to be carbon.

looking at your address there should be several race car shops in your area, especially the ones that build drag race cars, anyway they will make it for you, cause they have been making their own exhaust out of stainless for years.
