Temp sender
I bought a new temp sender a few days ago from Oreilly's. I installed it on the passenger side near the back of the engine where the PO had installed a mechanical one. My gauge never moves. The wire is in good shape, and I polished the terminal to ensure good contact. Any ideas what could cause no reading?
Thanks!

Re: Temp sender
I have always seen them on the drivers side of the engine just above the second spark plug from the front. Should be a threaded hole there.

Re: Temp sender
If its an electric one you didn't use pipe tape or any other pipe dope compound did you? it may stop from giving you a good ground connection...

Re: Temp sender
I used teflon tape on the threads. I will remove it and reinstall without teflon.

Quote:
That location over on the rear passenger side was sometimes used for a temp switch on trucks with the TCS (transmission controlled spark) emissions system. That system has nothing to do with the temp gauge. So you might not have the new sending unit plugged into the correct wire if you used an existing wire/connector that was near that rear pass side of the engine. |
