Re: GMC into Chevy?

If you ever get the car in your avitar you could name it "Hoover" or maybe "Dyson". Gotta love the days when the rules were more relaxed and you could have things like 6 wheel F1 cars, turbine Indy cars and well anti hovercraft CAN-AM cars.

Re: GMC into Chevy?

Mine was born a GMC back in 1969. I got it a few years ago with full intentions of getting it back on the road (with a few upgrades), BUT, it had sooo much rust in it that all I could save was the cab. O.E. parts for a GMC are hard to find around here and if you do, they're expensive. I stumbled across an entire '68 Chevy clip just a few miles from my home for a reasonable price. I love the '67-'68 Chevys AND GMC's but economics and parts availability made the choice a "no brainer" for me.

I say go ahead and do it. I just makes my GMC more rare.

I will always love GMC's. It's even in my name. In a little over a year mine should be complete and on the road for everyone to appreciate.

Re: GMC into Chevy?

I like them both. When I started my search over 12 months ago it started with a '69 GMC that caught my eye in Queensland. I paid to have it inspected only to find it had some major rust issues and for 18K wasn't worth it. After more searching I managed to find my new toy down in Philip Island and was better value for money, even though the motor needed rebuilding.
Sadly we don't have the vast choices to pick from as you guys so we don't have the luxury of being GMC / Chevy biased. I'm a GM fan, and love driving a classic American pickup.

Their's only one 2J Chaparral and it has a name "The Sucker" Theoretically it has enough suction to stick it to the ceiling. It's in trust and staying in Midland. Ya'll come see it.

Re: GMC into Chevy?

Guess im the exception, still back and forth on keeping the GMC or converting it to Chevy. Not a big fan of the four headlights, but I do like the rareness of it.

Tons of awesome Chevys around here but the GMC caught my eye and now I'm hooked.
I bought a '72 Chevy and swapped the grille and core support for a GMC setup. Everything bolted up. They have different hood latches and latch supports.

I have always liked 4 headlights and prefer metal to plastic.
