Unhappy Someone please point me in the right direction.

My truck came origonal with a saginaw 3 speed (on the tree) and a 250l6, it got swapped for a Built up 350 and went through 2 saginaws, took the 350 out and i am in the process of putting the l6 back in. BUT, i dont have a transmission. i was given a th200 or 200 metric. will this setup be okay? how will it bolt up and perform? This truck has literally burned a hole in my pocket but it means too much to me to get rid of. and what about a shifter for the automatic? Please help me guys lol. And a pic of my engine, just to share.

Re: Someone please point me in the right direction.

200C is a light duty transmission not really designed for a truck. You can use it for a while. It may require driveshaft length change. You MUST wire up the converter or it will get hot. A factory automatic column can be adapted, or a floor shifter.

3 speeds are cheap here. Cost more for a clutch LOL. There are several T5 swaps, biggest issue seems to be getting a WC T5 and relocating the shift tower.

Might check the j-yards for a Saginaw 4-speed too.

If you're goign to go auto, TH350's are stil plentiful and relatively inexpensive, and 700's can be had reasonable. I occasionally wil run accross a 2004R (think olds powered caprices out of the late 80's, or Monte Carlo's).
