Lokar column shifter linkage

Anyone used this shift linkage in "our" trucks?

I used this item. Easy to install, cut to needed length, bendable to get around things, really tightened up the shifter feel.

I used this same kit on my CST. It did tighten everything up...unfortunately, on mine, it transferred some vibration into the shifter while driving. I went back to the stock linkage.

No complaints about the Lokar quality though....they make really nice stuff.

I was in the process of ordering this linkage this weekend. I never considered it transferring vibration. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Daniel,

In defense of the Lokar linkage, I think a lot of my vibration was from using a urethane transmission mount and I also had a Gear Vendors overdrive hung off the back of the transmission so maybe it vibrated more than a normal install. I just found that the OEM linkage had some slop built into it and it worked better for me.

It looks nice. Being a straight link from column to trans allows some vibration and engine/trans torque movement to transfer to the shift lever on the column whereas the OE linkage design allows any trans movement to go almost unnoticed in the cab. Also the OE linkage has a couple of rubber bushings to absorb some of the vibrations. The shift lever doesn't tend to move up and down when you mash the go pedal.

I set mine back up stock like Boogs', but I was unaware that it needed rubber bushings. Must have got lost through the years. All the holes and slots where there's movement got hollowed out pretty bad, so I welded them all up and redrilled. It tightened up and feels pretty nice, but I still like the idea of one rod like Lokars.

Has anyone tried the cable style that Lokar also makes? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/lo...4/applications

Any benefit between the rod and cable? I would think the cable would eliminate any vibration.
