The post is on the previous page of this thread. I just stuck a 2x4 into the open bottom hinge as he describes.

Blue 97 did you drop the tank or lift the bed? My pump is pretty loud but has been working fine and I'm not sure if it can be trusted.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
Put some drop shackles on today. Stock shocks will not work with a 8" drop. It doesn't matter how you position them, or if you have shock extenders. The shock is to long. Needs to be 14.5" collapsed or less for a 8" drop.

Got a front trans seal and a rear main seal in hopes it quits leaking. Fixed a couple of other leaks now it isn't peeing all over my garage floor.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
I changed the rear end oil. Also started messing with the instrument cluster. All the blot holes were cracked. Pick up one from a junk yard awhile back but it wasn't any better. So I figured I try to fix it for free before I buy a good one. I broke some plastic off one. Then cut the cracks on the other one with a hot knife. Next I took a small butane touch and melted the cracks. At the same time I melted the plastic I got from the other cluster with a hot knife and pushed it in the cracks like puddy. Once it cooled i sanded it with 220 grit. It seems to be working pretty good. It's kinda ugly but what can I expect from a poor mans plastic welder. lol

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
I did some tailgate repairs. My truck came with a bed liner and tailgate protector when I got it. I don't like stuff flying around the bed so I replaced the bed liner with a rubber bed mat as soon as I got it. I kept the bed protector as I do use my truck as a truck. The bottom of the protector hooked over the bottom of the gate and has worn the paint in a few spots. First I had to strip the decals.
I then stripped the rust from the bottom of the gate inside and out and fixed a few little dings. Last edited by Cape Codder; 04-30-2014 at 07:18 AM. |

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
Replaced the rusty top section of all eight body mounts on my ECSB 94 Chevy with some heavy steel plate. All it took was two 2" hole saws, a roll and a half of MIG wire and MANY hours work cutting, fitting and bending. Bending was the hard part with that heavy plate but it had to be done because the frame mounts are not 100% flat as seen in the second photo below.
And lots of rust paint after the grinding and welding.... Took the front clip off and jacked the cab off the frame about 6" one side at a time to make the welding easier Also put on new front fenders, inner fenders, radiator support, Y-pipe and gaskets, catalytic convertor and a couple of patches on the cab floor with 18 gauge steel(easier to weld) All in all it took 120 hours from May 6 to June 5 and was all done home in my gravel driveway in between the rain(and snow) days.
