LS1 swap questions

I looked and didn't find any info yet. I have an LS1 that I'm putting in my truck but have a few questions about accessory brackets. I want to use the factory Corvette engine covers and intake manifold but don't want to modify my frame to clearance the lower mounted alternator and a/c. I currently have no front accessories or pullies. I don't want to spend a fortune on an aftermarket set up either. Are there any factory options? Will the truck alternator mount work? What are your suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: LS1 swap questions

You might PM a mod and see if they will move this to the LSx Swap section for you. You'll likely get better response there.

Depending on what you call a fortune Holley makes a nice setup under $400. Truck may work

Re: LS1 swap questions

That looks like a 97-8 ls1, but you have a truck water pump? Is your crank pulley on all the way, it doesn't look like it. The Corvette covers won't fit a truck front accessory drive set up without cutting them up to clear the alternator. What is this going into?

Re: LS1 swap questions

At least the heads are off a 98 vette, so we'll assume thats what the motor is. The throttle body would hit the water pump gooseneck on the top, were it to be bolted on. zzd is the designation for manual trans 98 vette engine.

The crank pulley doesn't look on, assuming they just didn't bother installing a new bolt and just kinda hung it in place to sell. Probably not an actual problem, just keeping in mind that if you keep that pulley, or the truck water pump, they won't match in offset.

Re: LS1 swap questions

You guys deffinately have an eye for detail. The pump and pulley are from a truck. They were given with the motor so I just hung them on there. I will look into the Holley Brackets. Thanks guys.
