For all the lowered (static dropped) Crossmember clearance?

Just ordered 2.5 drop spindles, planning on ordering front 1" drop coils next.
I'd like to go with 2" drop coils, but want to be able to drive it with out dragging the front end over everything.
So for all the static dropped trucks. How much clearance between the ground and the front crossmember or lower A arms?
Im also running 15's.
Pics of your front, and measurement, and drop, and tire combo would be helpfull
Thanks

Re: For all the lowered (static dropped) Crossmember clearance?

You will be fine at 4.5" drop and 15s. Sorry have no pictures to reference but I know there are some running 5" drop with 15s. Check out lolife99 he has a slammed truck that's gotta be running 5-5.5" drop up front. Also put static drop in the search and youll get tons and pics and info on the subject

It's likely that most of us are out enjoying the spring weather. Plus, there are a lot of variables in your first question.

Cut to the chase, I don't have a measuring tape by my computer right now. But I *do* have 2.5" drop spindles and 2" drop springs (all ECE).
Also, I installed new shocks and all new bushings....So, it's all pretty "fresh" down there.

You'll have an 'apples to oranges' comparison with mine, even so. Like with so many others' that have their own set-ups.

Those are 20's with 245/40's up front.

I can tell you with this set up, (and a 6" static drop in the rear w/shock relocators), I never even dream about a clearance issue up front.
Now, I'm not stupid enough to fly over those berms they put in parking lots to slow down the idiots.....But that aside.....

Re: For all the lowered (static dropped) Crossmember clearance?

Mine measures 6" to the crossmember, and +/-4.5" to the lower control arm. (from the ground)
I have a 2.5" spindle, 2" springs, with 235/70/15's currently on the front. I have no problems dragging as long as you use your head.

Re: For all the lowered (static dropped) Crossmember clearance?

Thank you
I ended up buying 1" front lowering coils to go with my 2.5 lowering spindles.
that way if i want to go lower i can cut a little off. also ended up buying rear shock relocators and a adjustable trac bar.

Re: For all the lowered (static dropped) Crossmember clearance?

Tire height has more to do with clearance than anything else. Especially on the outside of the control arms. Because the crossmember is centered between the tires for the most part, when they go up over an obstacle, it does too.

With that said, I have 2.5" spindles and 2" springs for my '69 Short Step... fingers crossed! I went with 235 55 17 which is a 27" tall tire which should help fill up the wheel well in addition to giving slightly more clearance at the crossmember.

67stepper: did you have any issues with lower a arm interference with 15s? Did you have to trim the ball joint area?
