Cab Floor

OK guys, I have finally to start working on the '66 cab to go on '64 short step frame. Here a couple of pics of the floors, just wondering how one goes about repairing the firewall portion of the floor. I don't seem to see any panels past the floor. Also, are there panels for the kick panel area by the vents?

Sorry for dumb questions but this is my first try at this.

Re: Cab Floor

There are no patch panels available for the firewall portion of the floor. You have to either fab some up with sheet metal or find a donor cab with good metal. You can buy patch panels for the kick panels. From the looks of it you will probably be needing inner and outer rockers and possibly door pillar bottoms which are also available in patch panels. Check through some of the build threads. Alot of us have went through the same thing and worse. Good luck.

Re: Cab Floor

Yep, you'll need to make patch panels for the lower firewall. I did the bead rolls first, then worked off them to find my bend lines.

Both sides needed replacement sheetmetal on mine.

Re: Cab Floor

Funny, I was just reading though your build. It will be rough for me as I haven't even welded since high school (we get into how long ago that was) and have never done it on a vehicle. But it has to get done.

I have noticed that this trans hump in this 66 Cab that I am trying to use to replace my 64 cab is low and does not look to be bolted in. The 64 had a 4 speed in it and the hump was higher and bolted in, is this going to be an issue? I am going auto in the build.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Re: Cab Floor

You should be fine with the low hump and an auto.

Re: Cab Floor

Some simple leaf brake work, then a hard wood die and a big hammer made this drivers side replacement piece.

Yeah, he did a lot of work on the FAQs, and kept them up to date. He doesn't hardly post over at Classic Forums either.
.
I came across this thread because I'm looking for replacement cab floor pan mounting washers with the cup to recess the mounting bolt head.

those washers shouldn't be to hard to make. you would just need some heat and a form of sorts to be able to stretch the metal with a hammer or what ever will do the job
