Cowl Panel Antenna Hole Size - more than 1 size??
Swapping from telescoping mast am radio antenna to a stock 72 fixed mast fm antenna. The fixed mast clamp and nut are shown.
Problem: What I'm pointing to is what goes under the cowl to clamp the whole enchilada together - but it's pretty much exactly the same size as the hole in cowl - i.e. it's too small. No way to "clamp" the cowl in between as this just pulls right through. I can rig up a way to make it work, perhaps with a fender washer, etc, but would much rather do this right. Were there 2 different size holes in the cowl? (perhaps fixed mast antenna used a smaller hole?? Can't imagine that'd be the case). Anyway - interested to hear if anyone knows. I've never had an am/fm in one of these before. Or, if anyone has a bigger lower clamp/nut (the thing I'm pointing to, that won't slip thru the cowl hole.... I'm all ears). Funny how it's always the "little" things that throw off the plan Thanks guys! |

Re: Cowl Panel Antenna Hole Size - more than 1 size??
Ah HAH!! Went digging thru an old pile of CB parts and found the additional part I needed - apparently bought an incomplete complete setup from a member (my fault - he advertised it with a picture and I didn't know it was missing, my bad). If anyone has the missing piece I'm pointing to, I'm gonna post a WTB. Info just posted here to explain the mystery. Missin parts..!
The missing part goes under the cowl along with the clamp thingy, and it is placed over the clamp thingy (i.e. round parts toward the floor). Then all is well. Last edited by jocko; 03-27-2014 at 10:51 PM. |

That appears to be a universal fit antenna.
Here is a link (with good pictures) to a telescopic mast antenna that was for sale. The repro solid mast antenna I bought had the same style mounting parts. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=579113 Last edited by FirstOwner69; 03-28-2014 at 01:49 AM. Reason: Added link. |

That looks like a typical adjustable base antenna to me as well. The factory fixed mast is very different.
Here is a picture and a link to the repro Manes offers. http://www.manestruckparts.com/store...Category_ID=20
