'61 GMC w/ 65 Chevy Grill & Bumper

I have a question for you guys. My truck is actually a '61 GMC but what looks to be a 65 Chevy grill and bumper? Anyway...I noticed that the bumper is mounted a little weird. I looked on the LMC Truck site and it doesn't look like I'm missing parts or anything. It almost seems like I need to add some spacers / washers to push out the bottom. That or the bumper horns are bent?

That's a 61 GMC Cab..and you have a 64-66 chevy grill..60-66 chevy bumper..62-66 chevy hood. Bumper looks fine to me...does it bend up like that on both sides? If so..then yer fine...here's a picture of mine...its not in the complete stock position..but this is close enough.

Yes they both bend up like that on both sides. Thanks!
Didn't realize she's quite the Frankenstein.

That's pretty exaggerated to me. If it was mine I would loosen the upper bolts, remove the lowers and add some body washers or thick alignment shims to the bottom bolts between the frame horns and the backside of the bumper to tilt it back into position.

You read my mind...that's the approach I was thinking of to straighten it out. Looks like I have a lil weekend project.

Mine on my 66 trucks don't turn up like that. Also a 63 thru 66 bumper wont fit a 60 thru 62. the 60 thru 62 the frame is wider. something is out of wack to make your bumper not be straighter.

I went out to the garage and took a better look at my 62', my bumper isn't as turned up as yours, yours does seem to be exaggerated, at least compared to mine. The using washers as shims sounds like a good idea. I might do the same to mine.

Re: '61 GMC w/ 65 Chevy Grill & Bumper

Its very common on 60-62 trucks for the front mounting tabs on the front of the frame horns to have either been ripped completely off or bent. Very weak design. Many get re-welded and will be off. This is assuming its still the original 1961 frame. I suggest looking it over there first. 1960-1962 bumpers are the only years that fit a 1961. Yours is up on the sides. Heres how it should look.
