sanding help ?

I posted this question in paint and body and only got 1 responce,so ill try here. Im painting my truck this winter,I saneded my glass rear fenders with 220 grit sandpaper, then came back with 100 grit sandpaper on my paint chips( to fether them out) then resand with 220. This is what i done so far. Now I want to primer filler my fenders and resand with 320 grit then reprime with a primer sealer and sand with 400 grit.My question is is this the corect procedure or am I missing something. BTY happy newyears to all.

Every time you prime you are starting from scratch, so it doesn't make sence to prime sand, prime sand with a finer grit, prime sand with even finer grit. the process is more like sand with a course grit, prime, sand with 200, prime sand with 200, prime sand with 200, paint, sand with 300-400, clear, sand with400-600, buff.
Don't quote me on the grits, as its been a while since I have done it. Usually the cans of paint come with a product bulletin that tells you what grit to sand with. If in doubt ask the fellers behind the paint counter.

i am no body man..but seems some where along the line at the finish you will want to be wet sanding the primer and feather it into the painted surfaces....i am thinking 600/1000 grit
smooth as a baby's butt is what i would want

ill tell you what i did....my truck needed minimal body work,but i did that first...one spot at a time,dings,small dents whatever....then....i wetsanded the whole truck with 320....sprayed about 3 good coats of 2k primer,let dry for about a week to make sure it didnt shrink up,sprayed a guide coat and then blocksanded to see what was left that i didnt get on the first go around....all that stuff will show up once you have blocksanded the guide coat,even small paint chips....hope this helps
