Dually Tires

What size, Brand and style is everyone running on their Dually's? I have 16" Alcoas on my dually and need new tires but cant decide on brand or style to go with. Kinda thinking cooper or goodyear but figured i would ask before i got a set. I do drive in my yard and prefer not to get stuck if its a little soft so i was kinda thinking an AT tire.

My flatbed (the '96 in my sig) has a set of Michelin LTX M/S 2's in LT235/85R-16E on it that my dad bought, been a good tire, ride well, wear well. I've got over 50k miles on them and they are still quite usable, drove over some mountain passes this winter with just the weight of the bed and only needed 4WD a couple times.

I was in the same spot a while back, after some research the best bang for the buck I came across was kuhmo road venture a/t. I am very pleased with them they work well pulling, hauling, towing and off-roading. Hey my dually is a 4x4 after all .

What size are you running? Wish mine was a 4x4. It would be alot taller if it was. LOL

I'm running 235/85/16's on my 4x4 dually. I bought a set of of Kenda Klever M/T's. I've been very impressed with the tire so far. I think they make a set of A/T's as well. I got mine for $140/ea with free shipping.

I have 245/75/16's on mine.

I run 235-85R-16's but you have to be careful about tires rubbing together. Some brands aspect radio is wider causing tires to rub and over heat under load.

I have alcoa wheels on mine and run the transforce HT 235/85/16E on the rear and same tire but in a 245/75/16 on the front. I wanted a wider tire on the front to help with flotation on the sand as my truck is used pretty much solely to haul my desert toys out to the dunes. I have 2 steelies that I keep a spare of each size on in this case. I like the transforce HT for the price

That's a nice slide in camper! You don't see many newer ones around. Especially piggy backin on a square, lol

The khumo road venture a/ts are pretty good tires for the money. They aren't very aggressive treads so they don't compromise ride comfort or turning and they aren't loud. I run them in 225/75/16 on my 3+3.

Thanks for all the input guys. Love the Slide in camper desert1957!! Im thinking I might go with 215/85/16 or 245/75/16. Both have some decent tires to pick from and both are 30.5 inches tall so maybe my spedometer will be correct again. I desperatley need a smaller steering wheel too. Tried backing up my car trailer a few times the last couple weekends and trying to turn that semitruck of a steering wheel is a pain. Gives new meaning to give me 40 acres. LOL

I have 215 85 16 BFG Commercial TAs on my 83. They have been a great tire and weren't too expensive when I bought them

I just ordered the same size in Hankook Dynapro HT RH12s for my 89 R3500 Flatbed. They were really cheap at Discount tire and I just needed something to make it roadworthy rather than buying the best tire I could get. They do have good reviews, so time will tell.

If you are going to go wider than the 215s, you need to make sure your dual wheel tires aren't rubbing together under load like some have mentioned. They will get hot and blow out if they rub. People use wheel spacers to keep them apart to run the wider tires.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I found it difficult to take decent pics of tire wear. These are the Michelins I mentioned with ~52k miles on them.

Thank you monte0185, I have a picture similar to that saved. I am happy with my tire wear, it appears to be very even. (go figure, regular maintenance, alignment checks, air pressure...) I posted my pictures as reference to anyone looking at the Michelins as an option, they've done very well for me.
