F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
Getting ready to purchase a 9" for my 72 short bed with a 504 BB in the next week or so. Looking at Moser and priced their package, just wondering if any of the members here know of some other builders that offer a complete housing with good axles that fit our trucks. I have Nascar truck arms and lowered 4" in the rear. Engine has 647 ft lbs of tq at 3700 and 552 HP at 5300 No track time just taking it to work and screwing around on the street a few times a week. Any links or onfo would be great.. (can,t afford mark williams stuff)

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
A term I heard recently that FITS,,,
BUY once CRY once
Streeet and street tires will not hook and put nearly as much stress on the drivetrain as slicks and a well preped drag strip. That said, I've never borke a Moser axle, but put a bit of twist in one. DESTROYED a number Strange axles Broke a Dutchman axle in half Only thing I havent been able to tear up (yet) is a Mark Williams and I have tried OH so hard over the last 4 years

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
If you got the cash for the moser setup I seriously doubt you will be disappointed. You gotta pay to play but your definitely on the right track.
As Marv said you can put a hell of a lot of power through a rear on the street. Power and burnouts don't break a rear. Traction is what breaks stuff and causes a bunch of cussing and yelling. Sometimes its just cheaper to spend more money in the first place.

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
Quick performance has pretty good pricing. $2800 for a complete disc brake rear, you would have to set-up the rear brackets or call them and see if they can do them for you bc I didn't see an option on their website for it. Fabricated Housing, Yukon Alum Center, Grizzly Locker, Disc brakes w/ e-brake, and gears.

Like Marv suggested, if no budget for MW stuff, next choice is Moser.

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
I bought the Moser M9 with backbrace... figured it could take whatever I threw at it...
I would go with board Vendor Pro Performance (Travis) he was able to get me a better price than I could find anywhere (including summit and straight from Moser) Rear end showed up in under a week and in huge 2 boxes... one with housing/ misc parts... other with axles... I was very impressed as they do include a bent style trac bar that connects to the stock location on the driver side and has the brackets and such to connect to the trailing arm on passenger side... also comes with new ubolt and all the other studs and such needed to bolt in your center section or you can order it with one of their center sections... They also have them ready to bolt in with axle saddles already welded in the correct locations and they also have both widths for 67-72 trucks and have 5 or 6 lug axles available... |

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
I can afford the Moser setup.. Didn,t know if there was any other Builders out there that i wasn,t aware of. I would rather spend the cash on something that is well known so as to not breaking parts every weekend. I know the street tires won,t hook-up to the point that something will break, but I would like a set-up thats going to hold up to some pounding. Hoping to run either a 31-18-15 or 29-18-15 out back. have to see what my ride height is going to be first..

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
I did alot of looking before I had mine built. I finally went with Currie. They had the best deal really, and they have all the best manufacturers for the best parts. Plus... they do know their stuff. jmho

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
I know someone here in town that had an axle built with Currie and they needed all the dimensions. That tells me that they don,t build too many for our trucks. I think I,ll just go with Moser. It,s the last part that i need for my build..

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
I was thinking that with my mufflers (Spintech pro 9000) No one will hear the locker clanking all the time.....

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
I have a 9" with a locker, not loud at all. You can feel it lock/unlock when you turn real sharp and go real slow but I never hear it.

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
I have only used the Tru-trac in 4 wheel drive applications. They worked great in all the trucks and jeeps that I had them in. I,m not sure how much HP and trq they can handle, thats why i was looking at the locker instead

Re: F#*d 9 Inch...The bad word
If you are doing burnouts, the locker will not burn up.
