The NOS door handle scandal
I keep seeing guys trying to unload "NOS" door handles for our 67-72 trucks, complete with modern bar codes and everything. So they were clearly produced (or at least packaged) long after these trucks left production. Whether that meets the "Old" part of NOS is another story. And for $200, they better be the real deal.
I've heard, though, that these later "sort of NOS" ones aren't that great of quality. Is there a board vendor or someone that makes a great set? I'd get mine rechromed otherwise. Thanks, Dave

Re: The NOS door handle scandal
The handles I got on fleabay for $50 to the door are surprisingly nice. The mechanism on the backside appears very well made. They don't seem any different than the 47 year old ones off my '67 that I threw in the garbage.

Re: The NOS door handle scandal
The GM Restoration Parts ones may very well be made by Counterpart. That's what all that stuff was. GM licensed companies to duplicate parts never available in the aftermarket before,as well as other non-license requiring parts. Growth in reproduction parts availability made GM realize they could offer these same parts as GM parts and grab part of that market they were missing out on. Harley did the same thing with Eagle Iron parts, which were the same parts that Custom Chrome,Drag Specialties, etc were offering for years when Harley was only interested in supplying parts for their latest offerings...as all manufacturers were known for...until they saw the restoration market bloom
