power steering fluid check

just getting used to havin an old chevy truck, wow, some things are really different than the new cars. a small thing but one I want to fix is checking the power steering fluid. the dipstick is kinda translucent light brown plastic, well, you really cant tell where the level is on it. How are you guys getting around this problem, if you even notice it!!

Re: power steering fluid check

It's never been a problem for me even when I was working on them for a living. It shouldn't be too hard to find a different cap with a different colored dipstick the same length though. As far as I Know most Saginaw caps will fit right on other Saginaw pumps. You might even look in the "Help" section at the parts house as they usually have power steering caps there for a few bucks.
