Re: My 85 C20 "finally getting paint"
My 1986 chevy k20 has the same "teepee" badges on it. Does anyone know what that means? Camper special? i thought they didnt make a camper special for those years thanks

Re: My 85 C20 "finally getting paint"
the hood, tailgate, and cowl have all been wet sand and bust. They are smooth as glass. The rest of the truck looks freaking awesome, it's sitting in the booth painted. I gave the mexican buffer dude an extra 100 dollars under the table to make it as smooth as the hood when he cuts and buffs it tomorrow. I am beyond happy

Nice! As far as the flake, i would imagine he mixed the paint to the spec that was called out for the color code you gave.

Re: My 85 C20 "finally getting paint"
he said the factory color code in the glove box did not mix up as he wished. So he barfed the glove box really good, it still have the original paint and had a computer matched. He does not know how they flake got in there but we both love it.
some updates. The first picture should be off the old style license plate push intype light, over time the lenses turn yellow and break and just look bad. So I made the hole bigger and drill two other holes an added the other style that screw in and never yellow. Still have to do the other side. Also got my new, used fender emblems in, and I started working on my rear tailgate bezel. It is kind of dinged up so I bought a Do It Yourself auto body repair thing at the parts house to knock them out. Hopefully it will come out nice and I can polish it like I did the cab trim. |

Re: My 85 C20 "finally getting paint"
i think some of the paint codes have been reused in gm. so a 85 code blue with no flake is now a 2008 blue with flake. ran it to that when i was working for a shop and wanted to redue my 86 c 20 the boss mixed some up and we spryed a old door and i looked at it and ask that is fact for 86? why does it have flake? never did do the truck or find where the screew up was

Re: My 85 C20 "finally getting paint"
I am jealous. My truck is pretty much ready. I have the inside of cab, door jambs, back of cab and firewall all painted. Just need to finsh putting the A/C box in and drivetrain so I can put the front clip on and then paint. I am soo ready for mine to be done. However I am trying to get another part of my business going otherwise it would be done. In due time though. Your truck is coming along very nice and quick. I can't get over how fast it is getting done. Mine was in the paint jail for over a year and still not done. Looking forward to your finished product.

Looking good Nick. Man I paid a hefty price to have mine painted but it wasn't near as quick of a job as yours! I'll have to use him for my Chevelle project....lol. Looks very good.

It wound up costing me about 5600. Yeah I'll use them for sure. Man I can't wait to start on the Chevelle project but I need a good shop to work in.

Re: My 85 C20 "finally getting paint"
Spent the better part of the weekend tapping dents out of this damn tailgate bezel, the sanding and polishing and painting etc. Looks better than it did, and will look better than the holes in the tailgate showing. Supposed to go get my truck tomorrow but with 50% shot of rain it might not happen, cant tow it an hour home in the rain with no glass

Re: My 85 C20 "finally getting paint"
Well I had them do the bedliner, paint the interior etc. so I actually drove the price up. How much was the tool you used to tap out the dings on the tailgate band? I need to do one that I have in my garage.

Re: My 85 C20 "finally getting paint"
It wasnt really worth the $22 i spent, all you need is a small hammer and various things like i used a small drillbit to lay in the edges and tap them out. And just something flat and hard to put behind the bezel to tap against
