Tire pressure ???

I got a 84k10 with a 5.3 6 inch lift and 35 inch bfg all terrains, what is the correct tire pressure for these tires? Right now I got 28 lbs in them and they seem over inflatted, my last set seemed fine with this and lasted about 4 years...I got a lot of money wrapped up in these and don't want them getting wore down too quick

You could try the contact patch test!
Find a shiny smooth chunk of asphalt, wind her up and lay a nice patch of rubber.
Look at the nice black mark.
Darker in the centre is over inflated.
Darker on the outside is under inflated.
Adjust air to achieve a nice even looking patch.
Just remember your excuse if you get caught!

Funny part, he's 100% correct as usual.
Rather than lay a patch. I observe the wear as I drive, like when I gas up etc. Then again, I run close to stock size and like my work trucks, close to max gvw.

I check all my tires monthly. Use a tread depth gauge like in the link. Adjust as needed.

so there isn't really a set psi my tires should be is what I'm getting at? just flat on the deck and smooth riding?

You ran the old ones at 28 psi. Start there, watch them and check the depth.
They last longer and your buttometer will luv it!!

Haven't heard buttometer in a long while...I went down to 25 psi

It's dependent on so many things there isn't a hard rule. I run my 31 BFG A/Ts at 35 in the front and 29 in the back when I am running light, to get the same rolling diameter. Running loaded I will run 35 all around. They seem to be wearing evenly.

One way to check without laying a patch is to make a chalk line about an inch wide across the tread. Drive down the block a bit and see if the chalk wore evenly or if there is more chalk remaining in the middle (under inflated) or more chalk remaining on the edges (over inflated). If there's no chalk at all, you drove too far and can't tell anything. Try again.

Good advice man, I'll try that here soon, the tires seem to be over inflatted, just from driving around the center was hitting the road, not the outside, seems like two inches on the outside/inside of each tire wasn't hitting the deck

Have you tried the chalk test before?Take normal sidewalk chalk and draw a nice line across the tread of the tire.Drive it around the block and look at the chalk line you drew see where it wore off and where it still is.If its gone in the center only lower the psi if its gone on both edges add air.It takes a little time and trail and error but in the end you figure out the best psi for your truck for even tire wear.

I had a simliar problem when I added 255/60R17 tires on my S15 Jimmy. Way wider and taller than a stock tire. I had to play around with air pressure. Too much and it bounced all over the road. Too little and it would drag. Do you drive a lot of highway miles? City miles? Basically get the tread dirty. Drive around. Adjust pressure so the width of the tire wears (drops off dirt) even from edge to edge. The front and rear will be different pressures due to truck weight. After I found ideal pressures for front and rear, my ride was smoother around city driving. If I was going out of town or loading up heavy, I would adjust tire pressure. It's nice to have huge compressor at home. I even carry an emergency pack battery/booster/compressor for long trips to make adjustments. I found that the front and rear are about 2-3 PSI in difference for ideal wear.

I do mostly city driving, and a lot of back road driving, very little city, I went down to 25 psi, which is a lot smoother

I used to adjust my 35" BFG AT's so that 3 tread blocks were making contact with the asphalt while parked. That ended up being in the 20's somewhere. It sounds like you are in the ballpark now. If the outside tread doesn't contact the asphalt you aren't getting all your traction and the middle of the tread will wear out too fast. You are correct to pay attention to this.
