Reinstalling Fender Badges 72 GMC Sierra Grande

Oh man, tough job for a guy w/large hands....removed my GMC front fender badges to cleanup and spot paint behind them. Needless to say, am having some difficulty getting the speednuts back on. Is there an alternative method to putting these back on short of shrinking to miniature size and growing a 3rd arm?

Most of the time you have to remove the fenders to get the badges on and off

I got them off by bolting the round ends of 2 combination wrenches to reach up in there; pretty ingenious, if you ask me.

Not so easy to get them back on....and NOT going to pull a fender to reattach.

use a gear wrench with a flexible head. you can also loosen the bottom fender bolts a bit so the fender sticks out just enough to get your hand in there.

I'll try that. Absolutely would prefer to have them bolted back on w/the speed nuts vice some sort glue. PO did that on the Sierra Grande badges on the bed and excess glue squeeezed out. Looks like dog poo.

Re: Reinstalling Fender Badges 72 GMC Sierra Grande

I had to pull my inner fenders out, and I think I used a pretty long 3/8 wrench. Horrible job.

And that's how I got into this mess. Inner fenderwell needed some refreshing , so pulled it out. When the PO repainted the white cove, they masked off the GMC. It looked OK, but being cursed as a perfectionist, I couldn't let it rest. Plus the badges needed to be cleaned up, too. I knew going in that it would be a PITA putting them back on. I'll tell you right now, I'm going to leave the driver side alone!!

Well, good luck with the "leaving the driver's side alone" part, but if you're like me, it'll eat at you. Every time you get in the truck, you'll see it. Slowly the memory of how much a pain it was will fade (this is why women have more than one child) and you'll decide, it wasn't that bad, I can do it. So, in advance, I feel for ya, brother.
