Im partial to these link bar end bushings. 2'' diameter, 1/4'' wall DOM tubing with polyurethane guts and an insert sleeve. Even better theyre $12ea. I got aluminum mock up bushings in this pic.

Where are you getting your polyurethane bushings from? Are they available in different ID's and OD's? My be silly but why would you us polyurethane bushings in motor mounts?

I sell them. I only have them in different widths being 2 1/2'' and 3''. Poly mounts work as well as rubber, and they will last way longer than rubber. They have a hardness of 80 durometer making them a hair firmer than rubber so I use them.

I ended up using the universal street rod mounts and recessing my firewall for the HEI distributer.

Ok, first off I am sort of new to the '47-53 side of things, so bear with me.
I am trying to use this set up for a customer's '50 Suburban. He's wanting to keep stock steering and front suspension. There appears to be no way to use this with a stock steering box on top of the frame. Even with about a 3/4" offset to the passenger side( anything more looks horrific) there is about 2" clearance- not enough for manifolds or the block hugger headers.

Looks like most are running an MII based IFS anyway.
Suggestions?

Tincan... I'm Fighting Same Issue On My 51 Gmc...
Previous Owner Put Tube Mount In. I Put A Motor I Had On The Mounts An Its Rubbing My Manifolds Too.. If You See My Above Posts . I Like Max Dogs Idea. Looks Like That Would Raise up The Engine To Clear The O.G Steering. I Wanna Go IFS Someday But Not In My Budget Quite Yet... My Frame Is Good So Not Sure About A S10 Swap.. I Thought I'd Just 4 Link My Rear With A C Notch An Sub My Front.

Many guys here have done the S10 chassis swap with positive results. I personally feel that there are so many options to upgrade the existing frame that why not keep it. I went with the hiedts kit and just recently upgraded to the four link with coil overs in the rear. The universal street rod motor mount kit worked well for me. Raising the engine and trans high enough to clear the stock steering box should be no problem. You may have to cut out the floor pan and lower firewall to clear the trans. Then make a small trans tunnel. Here's a pic of my rear suspension set up.

After consulting with my customer we decided to convert to a vega cross steering setup. He does not want any lowering done and the IFS setups are just out of the budget. Looking like I can tuck the Vega box in the frame rail, which will give me about another 1.75" clearance. Then I can switch out to a short water pump and pulley setup, allowing me to move engine up and forward another .75-1.0" each.

Thanks for the helpful hints. Things like this are why custom builds are easier than retaining the stock components some times, LOL!

Hi Patrick,

Yes, the new CPP 400 box is a direct bolt-in. The pressure fitting is 7/16 tube (11/16-18 inv. fl.) and the return fitting is 3/8 tube (5/8-18 inv. fl.).

The green I'm using for the cab is RAL-6009 Fir Green. The interior is going to be RAL-8025 Pale Brown.

Thanks, looking at contingency plan in case my box location limiting right turns gets to be an issue, the CPP boxes were not being made when I started my project. That green and tan palette is very nice.
