Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I mocked up the NV4500, range box, and NP205...
I think I need to rotate the box a bit left.
2.6 time 1.96 makes for a good cheap setup.
I parted a 91 sub to get the TC so I have 500 in the whole thing and _all_ parts needed to put it together except the clutch fork boot.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Today I cleaned up more of the vent line....I didn't think it was possible but I freed up that spring that is around the engine end of the canister line (1972 EEC).

I used Krud Kutter phosphoric acid from Lowe's and after a 2 hour soak it came clean.

I like that sound deading stuff!

I sprayed NAPA Rust Inhibitor onto the vent line I derusted yesterday.

Allchevy58- looks good, I'm doing the same, where did you screw the under dash light mounts into, did you have to drill a hole?

Outlaw- they look smooth, and the decal looks cool!

Did some paint work on the truck the other day and have the front half waxed! I did the paint repair last year too before the HRPT. It takes a couple of days to do but worth it I think. I start by wiping the whole area down with mineral spirit's . Then dry good and use my touchup paint and dab it on in the bad spots. Let it dry good for 2 days and then take a clean tee shirt and mineral spirit's again and rub until smooth. Then wipe off good and wax it.
Here is the front of the hood with paint dabed on and then after I waxed it. It's not 100% but way better than what it was.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Nice job! I like it. At least you can peel it off if you get tired of it.

I painted my canister lines (those under the truck) with 1 coat of flat black today. Tomorrow I hope to put those back on.

Purty truck, always love green.

I made a crafty mount for the DLC. Used a paint chip sample to make it and found a home in this factory hole that had a switch for the saddle tanks.
Used it to make a template but it's pretty sturdy so I may just leave it there....
And forget the effort of making one out of thicker steel. Thoughts?

I had a toggle switch there and moved it. I was worried what it would do to my knee or leg in an accident. Jmi

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Most of the heavy lifting is done on my 61' so I decided to sand down "rails" of bed to get em ready for paint....It's been so long since I broke down the beds(yes two beds, long story) that I forgot where this "short rail goes". Its the one in forefront of photos... Where does this piece belong???

thanks in advance....

I got the box sides, bulk head, steps and cross members assembled and sitting on the frame. Next I have to mount the rear fenders and box side filler tube to the fuel cell.

The two holes were already there from factory.

Fixed my horn button, swapped my gauge bezel lights for leds and replaced the shift indicator glass fibre light with an led, rebuilt that annoying little spring button thing that releases the headlight switch shaft! What a PITA.! Now to get on the rack and straighten my back.

Polished and waxed the wheels in preparation for the 2014 HRPT next week.

Got the oil changed and all the fluid levels top off too. Added a little color to the pulley's as well!

Picked my parts up from powdercoat yesterday and then got my engine compartment back together after spraying out the inside of my fenders with a color matched rattle can...

Things just got serious. The tear down begins.

Pulled the cowl and driver's side front fender off. Spent a few hours trying to straighten it up and beat the wrinkles out. Not a bad start and much better than it was. Then, I painted my aluminum intake to get ready for the engine swap.
