Somehow my picture appears to have broken. I will have a more recent picture soon. Hopefully right after I get it running. I am pretty close to firing it up, but of course I didn't have any time to work on it while the weather was still nice.

 A bit of a "before" picture. The air cleaner is new, as is the master and brake booster. The motor is a 400 that was installed by the P.O. with the wrong flywheel, so that was a bit of a distraction. The P.O. also installed some sort of solid lifter cam so it would "sound better at cruise nights". Since not having to set valves trumps sounding good at a cruise night, the cam will go. I do want to get the truck registered first and a few miles on it so I can determine how good the rest of the motor is. I have a feeling that years of unleaded in this early (3 freeze plug) 400 has damaged the valve seats. If the rest of the motor is good (oil pressure is fine) I'll probably just do a top end on this and be done with it. |
