Anything you guys would change on my 383?

Since Im rebuilding it, I thought I might as well run the combo by you guys and see what you think, and if you see anything you think needs changing. Here it goes:

-4bolt block .030" over [yes Ive had a 377 the entire time without knowing it ]
-TRW forged flat tops, about 11:1 compression
-stock 5.7" rods, rebuilt with ARP bolts
-SCAT 9000 cast stroker crank
-comp cams 280H magnum [280* advertised, 230@ .050, .480" lift. This is one component Im looking at switching for a solid lifter unit]
-comp cams lifters+pushrods
-Z28 heavy duty valvesprings
-vortec heads
-comp cams roller tip rockers
-victor intake
-holley 750DP
-Hei with MSD blaster 2 coil and 6a box
-1 5/8" primary, 3" collector headman headers [those might need to be changed too]

O yeah....this thing is gona rock. After I get the rear end and slicks done I'll add the 200hp shot of NOS and see what happens.

I wouldn't go with the Vic, unless you plan on running about a 3000 stall converter, and even then I'd rather run a Performer RPM Air-Gap

If you're going to the trouble and expense to rebuild, I wouldn't use NOS as an afterthought. With NOS, exhaust is as important as intake and the timing events need to reflect that to take full advantage of the increase. Take a look at Comp Cams ground especially for nitrous, like the NX274H-13.

Definetly what Timspeed said, make sure your cam is set for the nitrous, also, I would go with the Performer RPM, I have used several other intakes, but the RPM is by far my favorite.

Looks to be ok if you like running 100 octane all the time. I'd keep it to 10:1 and run a comp XS274 cam. Also a 200hp hit is going to be a gamble as I would never do it with any type of stock parts in a small block even with good rod bolts. It may never hurt it but it might not live through the first pass. Seen it happen a few times and its not pretty.

Tom, i'd go with 10.2:1 with the XS274, that should give you a DCR of around 8.1:1, which should do just fine on 92 octane withthe Vortec chamber design and some careful tuning with the timing.

going with solid lifters ....run the MSD 6AL it has the rev limiter built in...you just change the chips

Buy the Scoggin Dickey vortec heads, they already have the higher lift z28 springs and LT4 retainers installed and they are about 520 a pair. You can actually buy a whole kit from them including the heads, edelbrock air gap vortec intake, rockers, pushrods, bolts, and gaskets all in one kit for around 1000.

I already have the heads with springs ready for .550" lift, amchine work and all

I ran a RPM with this motor for a long time, but since I dont care about power below 3000rpm I traded for the vic since it should make more power then the RPM above 3K. Im thinking a dual pattern cam is a good idea too for the NOS. Re-thinking it a 100hp shot is the biggest I'll go for now, when new forged crank and rods are ready then I'll go bigger.

And tim- Autos suck :p Manual tranny's rule!!!!
