Anyone know of a good way to clean out a gas tank that has had gas sitting in it for 15 years? I know I could take it and have it boiled out, but I was wondering if there is any method of cleaning it up at home. I have all ready syphoned the old gas out. Thanks

Soak it in denatured alcohol

Lowe's, Home Depot, etc in the paint area. Not cheap, but you only need couple of gallons.

for the price of a couple of gallons of alcahol , just take it to the radiator guy and have him boil it out and pressure test it and you don't have the mess to clean up and dispose of and you get a far superior job IMO

If I had to do it again, I would buy the POR 15 kit. I used it on my tank and have had excellent results. Most likely it is going to have rust sediment on the bottom of the tank and the kit from Por 15 will have a degreaser, cleaner and a sealer.

I used the POR on mine, works awsome.
I steam cleaned mine out for a few hrs first...not a speck of rust left in there.
I also had the leak in the filler neck repaired while it was out.

I dropped the tank and there was some much crap in there, I am going to have it boiled out. Anyone have a link to this POR 15 stuff?

POR 15 kit is good, but it takes a lot of shaking the tank and the better you are at getting all the crap out first the better the results.

It takes some time... but you'll be happy.

I dropped the tank and took it in to a radiator shop to get it boiled out. $45, not bad

Monday afternoon, I will have a clean tank to hook back up and take this Mopar for a long ride
