98 to 95 engine/trans swap
Guys, I have a 1998 I just took off the road due to an extensive amount of rust and replaced it with a 1995 with little to no rust. My problem is I miss the power and feel of the 98 in the 95. I want to swap the engine and trans from the 98 to the 95 but not sure what needs to come with it. I assume the PCM is a must, along with belts, pulleys, etc. But is this as easy as I think, or am I missing something?
The original plan was to take the cab and box off the 95 and put on the 98, but it seems like less work to swap the engine and trans. Both trucks are identical colors so it seemed like a no-brainer at first. |

Re: 98 to 95 engine/trans swap
Tagging along, have a similar situation.
The "convenience" plug where everything goes through the firewall looks to be the same, it was changed in '95, one year before the engine change. If you still have the inner fenders, use those since they have the mounts for computer, ABS, etc. |

Re: 98 to 95 engine/trans swap
Also just realized I want to swap the power steering from the 98 to the 95. I imagine it should bolt right up or I can swap the front ends. This $600 truck is making me think to much. I definitely miss the 98 but not the passlock (remote start problems).
