U-pull junkyard road trip

I needed a dash pad for my 98 ,it was cracked and I didn't like the overlays. I decided to hit U-pull- it since it was a warm day.
Way to many tools in a bucket and here we were scrounging thru the parts and pieces. I needed a brown one so there were 20 grey ones and 15 blue ones and only ONE brown one, go figure. A bunch of little screws later ,two cuts and abrasians, cuss words in two languages, two hrs later, and we finally got it. Now one disadvantage of doing this there is there are no keys in anything. It would help a lot if you could move the gear selector down out of the way.
Anyway headed for the pay window, I was told on the way in that $29 was the going price so that was nice. $96 was on the register,WOOOO! wait a minute. Well it seems they charge for everything seperately. The air vents are $2.50 each, charging port $5,ash tray $5, glove box $7.50,and the air bag is $50.
No problem ,off to the side it was stripped to the bare pad and I paid the $29. The man behind the counter then ask me if I would take all the take off pieces and throw them over there in the dumpster.I ask why they were throwing them away, he said nobody would buy them.
Now why would he make me strip it down and just throw the extra away? Beats me.

Re: U-pull junkyard road trip

I went to a yard like that near me a few years back. My usual yard charged me $2 for an inside rear view mirror and I was buying lighted GM ones and sold them on eBay for a nice profit. This other yard was charging $5 for the mirror and $5 for each light and $5 for each switch for a total of $20!!! What a ripoff!!!
