Is your camera making it look yellow....or is it actually yellow?

His signature says "uuugly yellow". Yes, I suppose all 68's are 50th anniversary trucks, but the true 50th's had a paint code of 551 (anniversary gold poly) and an interior code of 625 (gold and parchment). Check your glovebox options label and see what paint code you've got. If it's not 551, then it's probably not a true 50th. There are some other giveaways too, but I'm not too up on them; I think they had a white pinstripe down the side where upper molding was placed on 69-72's, the sunvisors will be gold....someone else help me here....

Very sharp nonetheless; I like the yellow.

It appears to be Dark Yellow on the primary color #519.
How about a pic of the Glove box option sheet.
Very unique combination I like it.
kind of like Ochre it kind of grows on you after a while.

yeh guys, it's yellow. I can't take any credit, good or bad, it was that way when I bought it. I made the realization about 6-9 months ago it was a 50th. It has the right interior & paint codes. I had help with some this board on the investigation. It has the gold sun visors & dash pad. The interior is still the origional gold.

I'll get a post of the glove box.

BTW, you guys notice the checkerboard effect on the shingles in my pic? I used the tip in FAQ about resizing pics to post, using MS PAint. Is that what caused this?

Thanks, Steve

A common result of trying to cram many pixels into a picture that will be allowed for posting. Take a huge high-resolution pic and shrink it. That's what you'll get in about any program.

Is'nt it possible that it was painted by the previous owner way back when before everyone knew how sought after the 50th was?

Nice truck

It does kinda look ochre (best color for these trucks BTW ). A nice, clean '68.

I might be wrong, but I doubt if anyone outside this forum has heard of or remember them. I wasn't trying to be mean, thanx for the comment.

I've owned the truck for 15 years and had no idea about the 50th until I saw a post on this site with a pic and said "Hey! That's my truck!!!!!!

nice clean truck... cool that its a 50th. one way to reduce that effect on teh shingles and body is to crop the pics (take away the crap around the sides of the image) before you resize and resize to about 640x480

actually the pin stripe is its very own option that is separate from the 50th paint scheme. it is listed as "D89 paint stripe" on my option sticker, but it isn't there any more (half assed repaint). you could get it with the 50th package, and IMO it looks pretty sharp. not too many trucks have it. i do not know if it ran all of the years, or just early (67-69) production. iam pretty sure it could not be had on stepsides, either (and neither could the 50th for that matter).

nice truck too...i like the way 50ths look

from what i have gathered, it is an anniversary edition 68, they were painted gold from the factory with an offwhite two-tone, they also had a gold dash pad and sunvisors, there is probably more to it than that, but that is what ive read in previous threads

50th Burbs and Panels did not have the gold and parchment interior. They came with Fawn interior. They also lacked the white paint under the trim. They would be solid gold, except for the white top and grille. Burbs and Panels would be "Custom" trim package, because I don't think the CST was offered for these two models. They also made a 50th van.
