for those running 327's 305's 350's
I have a 327 in my 65 c10 not the original motor to the truck
I have the alternator on the passenger side and a short water pump my alternator brackets broke so to my surprise everyone I called to replace the bracket said none show the passenger side mount with the short water pump. After ordering a couple brackets that didn't fit I had the broken brackets welded and I cleaned them up as best I could but they aren't as straight as I'd like them to be. Anyone know what car info I can give at the auto parts store so I can replace the brackets with new ones? |

Can you post a picture of what you have?

These may be more than you want to spend, but Alan Grove makes a passenger side alternator bracket for the short water pump. Part number 213r SC - Alt.

Re: for those running 327's 305's 350's
That's the same bracket I had on mine many years ago. I picked it up in a junkyard, but had no idea what car it was attached to. It might have been a Monte Carlo or Chevelle, Nova, etc. Sadly it's long gone or I'd send it to you:

Re: for those running 327's 305's 350's
Oops. Yes mine was a long pump. Perhaps the broken one is on a long pump as well, or perhaps the same bracket fits on either one?

I ordered the bracket from summit and the mount for the bolt where it mounts to the front of the water pump was stretched a few inches forward for the long pump. when I called them they said all short pumps are driver side mounted and long pumps were passenger side mount so when I explained I had passenger side with the short pump they said, "HUH how about that?...sorry" |

Re: for those running 327's 305's 350's
i don't believe you are going to find a short pump with the heater outlet at the top and a boss for the bracket

Re: for those running 327's 305's 350's
That lmc part looks like a long pump bracket. I did not think that the alternator would fit up there with a short pump. Sure would like to see a pic of your setup from the drivers side to show your pump and the bracket.

Re: for those running 327's 305's 350's
you are correct I just cancelled my order, I was so excited! I guess I could go to a long pump if I need to, I just hate spending money on this set up when I know there is an LSX with my name on it somewhere waiting to come forward.

Yeah, it looks like the long one to me; have you actually checked it? Here's a picture of a short waterpump.
