MAYBE I HAD EM & JUST NEVER NOTICED. THE LAST NEW TRUCK I HAD WAS IN 1989 (IT WAS A COMPANY TRUCK & I ONLY HAD IT FOR A YEAR & A HALF) & I'VE BEEN DRIVING THESE OLD TRUCKS ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY SINCE 1985. SORRY IF I HURT YOURE FEELINGS.

I'VE BEEN AROUND THESE OLD TRUCKS, SEEMS LIKE FOREVER, & HAVE NEVER SEEN THE DRAIN HOLE THING. SHOOT I WAS W....WR....WRO.... WRONG ONCE BEFORE YA KNOW.

JYJ, I have a whole bunch of those stock muffler holes stored with my bench seat collection! If ya need one, I have it. Just give me plenty of lead time as them suckers are hard to locate (you know how it is when you misplace a hole, darn thing disappears), but I have a whole drawer full of them somewhere.

I also have the ACME knock-offs too. The kind the coyote used on the road runner.

Okay I've lighten things up a bit here I hope:p

I had a 1997 Z-71 and it had a small 1/4 inch hole on the bottom back part of the muffer and I thought it was a rust hole until I looked at my friends 98 Z-71 and it had the same hole as mine in exactly the same spot so I would have to say drain holes are most definitely not

Now as far as drilling holes in a muffler I would not do it myself.

THANKS CPNE -- I APPRECIATE THE OFFER BUT WITH THE WAY I WELD (KINDA RESEMBLES GOOSE POOP) I USSUALLY HAVE SEVERAL NON DESIGNED IN DRAIN HOLES IN EVERY MUFFLER I WELD ON.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen several vehicles over the years with the mufflers mounted like this with no problems. All mufflers are going to hold moisture, no matter how they are mounted.

1. If you drive the boat fast enough with the plug out, the water will flow back out of the boat.

2. If you drive the truck far enough and/or fast enough the water in the muffler (a normal combustion by-product) will evaporate.

3. If you drill a hole in the muffler, it will immediately begin rusting at that hole.
