New guy, Dually wheel questions

Hey guys.. I tried running a search, only three hits with no help.

1957 4100 with a 10 lug DUALLY rear end

Does anyone make wheels for this? Mine are rotted out. I am trying to figure out if I can, A, find some. Or, B, should I just swap a rear end in out of something newer. And if so, what would work best?

Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The newer style 10 lug wheels will fit if you can find some in a junkyard.

The 22.5 10 bolt wheels for that truck are not easy to fine. The mid 90's 3500hd trucks have the same bolt pattern and have 19.5 wheels. Problem is 19.5 tires are short. Tallest one is a 8r-19.5. I belive it is 34". Stock tires on that are 38" tall. You probably will not find 20" weels in decent shape. Stay away from the 2 piece firerstone rh5 wheels. thay are the 2 piece wheels that split in the middle of the rim. If you find 20" with the lock ring on the bead, they are safe to use if in good condition.

And you can find someone to work on them. Around here tire shops will not work on split rims because of the perceived liability. There was a long thread a while ago about split vs other rims, a search should turn it up.

Let me ask ya'll this.. There is a shop in Miami that make adapters from the 10 lug pattern to a newer and more popular, say, 8 lug pattern. They push the wheels out about an inch, but I don't think that's a problem.. And then I would have a plethora of wheels to choose from.

Anyone ever tried that? Using adapters (spacers) ?? I've done it on cars a lot, but never a 1.5 ton truck..

*EDIT* They said the adapters would run somewhere around $500.00. Worth it?

Gearhead,you will get some great info on this forum,but your particular question has been covered pretty well at the Stovebolt forum,try here

You should be able tp get some good help from folks over there,a lot of experience with 1 1/2 ton and up trucks on that forum. 1.5 ton and up they call them "Big Bolts".

I am not a fan of adapters and would not run them on anything let alone something that big. With adapters you change the load on the bearings from where it was engineered to carry it. That being said, I do see lots of 1 ton duallies running the adapters for the 22.5 wheels.....
