Hood hinges

Hi everyone,
I broke one of the pins on my passenger side 69 C/20 hood hinge. The hinge got bent in the process.
Is there a vendor that offers a good replacement OEM hinge? Or is everything pretty much substandard quality?
Am I better off getting a set from the junkyard and having them rebuilt? What companies do the rebuilding? I'm from Connecticut.
Thank you all!

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Hood hinges

I agree with Andy4639 Willie at Hood hinge repair does great work. For a few dollars more you can have your hinges redone and not have to buy the aftermarket products that may or may not last.

Re: Hood hinges

The passenger side (RH) is still available from GM. I ordered one through my local Chevy dealership a few weeks ago. It was $61, but that was with a shop discount.

Replace as a pair. The spring tension will likely be different on a new one and cause twist.

Re: Hood hinges

Wes from Classic Heartbeat hooked me up with a nice set.
Part of it was my own fault for not lubing them up every once in a while.
These hinges weren't made for going up 80 or so times a year ( I open the hood every time I take the truck to a car show/cruise night).

Re: Hood hinges

It's only happened to me once, but it's a pretty sickening feeling when they fold inwards and the back of your hood winds up 8 inches in the air :-(

I've lubed them ever since. I've got one on my 2+2 that is essentially new and that I've kept lubricated but it looks like it wants to lean in sometimes (that's a big ass hood on that car). Scares me, but I can't find anything loose or wrong with the hinge.

Re: Hood hinges

I should've known because the back edge of the hood would stick up about a quarter inch every time I shut it and I'd push it down with my elbow. That wasn't helping things.
I was extremely lucky when it broke, the only damage it did was put a little divet on top of the grill. The cowl and fenders were unscathed. I was scared to death when it happened.

Re: Hood hinges

As an aside, what are you guys using to keep the hinges lubed? White lithium grease?

Hey Andy4639
I took your advice and sent my original Hinges to Willie for rebuild, Im glad you told us about him.
Im doing a total restoration and I could not get the Hood to line up or close right, the Hood Hinges had to much slop an play.
I sent them out to Willie, he rebuilt them and sent them back in just 6 or 7 days. So now I basically I have a NOS set of Hinges, or even better sense he puts lube on in-between parts as he rebuilds em.
Now I'm Golden!
