Glove box insert
I am starting with a truck that had no insert, having a bit of a hard time figuring how to secure a new insert. The new inset has four holes at the bottom, two on the side, and two on top. What I really cannot figure out is whether the insert is supposed to go inside or outside of the sheet metal.
For example, the bottom four holes seem to line up with the four screws that hold the hinge to the dash. But, the insert really does not want to sit above the dash, it seems to want to hang beneath it, in which case the screws holding the hinge on aren't going to hold it. Does any of this make sense? Does anyone have a good picture that might help? |

Re: Glove box insert
I hope this helps you out. When I took mine out it kinda had to be wiggled around to get it in place but then it "clicked" and the screws were easy to place.
the insert goes behind the sheet metal and then the screws secure into the speed clips on the insert

Re: Glove box insert
The correct installation of the glove box liner is behind the sheetmetal on the top and sides. Your glove box liner has little metal clips for the screws to go through for those areas. However the bottom of the glove box liner goes on top of the sheetmetal. Actually sandwiched between the glove box hinge and the sheetmetal. You will need to cut the liner on the end relief slits made to bend the cardboard liner around the corner. Otherwise the liner will not be supported on the bottom. WES

Re: Glove box insert
I'll need to pull my glove-box door off and have another look-see!

Re: Glove box insert
I destroyed a new one in my Burb by forcing it in and then having to take it out. The slits aren't pre cut! Guy.

Re: Glove box insert
With thanks to "i82much" for starting this thread and to Wes (Classic Heartbeat)
for correcting my misguided advice, I have sorted out and fixed my incorrectly fitted (by PO) GB insert. I don't know how to do pic - comment - pic - comment... so pic one shows how NOT to fit it but is a good start to marking your slits with a white corrector pen. (pics 2) Pic 3 cut slits ..pic 4 tuck corners in behind and bottom flap on top of the lip, and pic 5 screw GB door in place sandwiching the flap. P*ss easy when you know how, or when somebody slaps you upside the head with the right info! Thanks again everybody.
