noob questions.

Hey guys, not very familiar with the 55-59 apache trucks other than they're insanely cool I have access to a 58 apache, if I find a 55-57 front end will it just bolt on? Part of me would think so and another knows not to assume anything lol

Re: noob questions.

55-57 are not Apache trucks, just plain old Chevrolet. 58- 60 something that say Apache on the front fenders are. But to answer your question . No they don't just swap over. 58-59 are longer in the front by 2.5" on the front frame rails where the radiator mounts. You can make the modification and get t to fit. Fenders will bolt to the cab without changes

Re: noob questions.

Many guys and some on here have made that change and may chime in.
The hood hinges also bolt up in a different position but as dwcsr stated it can be done.

Re: noob questions.

Thanks, like I said not familiar with em just yet also I've heard that the Fleetside beds are hard to come by, how hard is it to get one? The truck im being given first look at is a apache 3100( I think?) shortstep with clearance lights, havnt looked the truck over like id like to since when the truck came up it was December and it was surrounded by ice and snow. So I've looked at it from about 8 ft away

Re: noob questions.

Fleetsides started in 58 and had no trim on it they can be found fairly easy. 59 had trim and trim is very hard to find and expensive when you do.

Re: noob questions.

Does it have the side badges indicating its a 3100? I ask because if the clearance lights are original they never came on a 1/2 ton (what 3100 means) means.

Does it have six lugs or eight?

Re: noob questions.

Just looked at the few pictures I have of it, and it has the "31 Apache" fender spears which I believe is original. I could be wrong. And I can't see the wheels though it looks like it has spit rims if that makes a difference. I know very little about the truck except that its sat in my dads friends backyard since I can remember. And he's offering the truck for what I think is a helluva deal, can't post pics off my phone or they'd be up already.

Re: noob questions.

If it's a short bed it should be 6 lug but split rims came on both six and 8 lug.

Personally if I was intending to go with a fleetside box I'd keep the 4 eye look to keep it authentic. I prefer the earlier front ends though.
