fire wall pad retainers
anybody have any tips on getting these buggers too pop in the holes I've ruined one allready tryin too bang it in.
I dont wanna drill the holes bigger. my search pretty much came up with "buy gmc pauls" brand. i would really like too use the ones i have. yes homer is makeing a statement

Add some type of lubricant to it, and get a cheap screwdriver , cut the driver down to use as a " pusher" and stretch good before you start. You may also warm the pin up to soften it to ease installation.

Those hard plastic retainer are junk! have never had any luck getting them into the hole. Best bet is to find some soft rubber ones.

I ruined enough I would have needed two kits to get enough to do the job with the generic plastic fasteners. And they look bad on the firewall side. I ended up cutting them out getting the correct rubber ones.

From the factory, I'm sure they were made to be installed once.
They are basically a one way push through, and if you have to remove them, you have to replace them. Just the way it is. Gary

after a lil' while i had a severe brain fart. holey cow! i have a parts truck out back
yep pulled all the retainers then cleaned them up. back in the garage i got too looking for my firewall grommets an guess what i found in my "bagged and labeled parts" i dont remember pulling these out i thought i just snipped them and chuck'm. i held off ordering these glad i did i dont need 3 sets ahhh they work so much better sometimes i wander about myself

i forgot the pick...interior somewhat assembled.
i kept the fatmat hidden from plain view. also put 2 layers of jute under the rubber mat. my new gas pedal broke the first time i installed it....junk
