Which CA dealership did my truck come from?

I would like to know which dealership my pickup came from. It was made in Fremont and it spent all of its life in the valley (the big valley), it is has the CA emissions device smog dog equipment.

Are there any GM archives that I can determine where my truck was originally sold? I would like to get the dealer frames. Its just good to know.

Start looking for a build sheet. Behind the seat, in between the springs, behind the gas tank cover, under the floormat/carpet...that's the only way you will find out the dealership.

Thanks Leddzep, I have been through the truck upside down and cannot find a build sheet. I would love to but no such luck. I guess I will contact the previous owners and try to do some Rockford style sleuthing.

No GM archives. The GM documentation does not start until 1976 for US build/sold vehicles.

Do you have the new vehicle warranty/owner protection plan booklet? Usually found in the glove box. If so, sometimes the dealership is listed on the protect o plate page.

That would be neat to have. My truck came from a little car lot in Sophia, WV which is long since gone. In fact, the land it was on is gone also, having been eaten up by an excavator when the little creek that ran through the town was widened.

My dad talked the dealer down $400.00 when he bought the truck new. I think that's quite an accomplishment for 1972.
