3 on the tree shift lever

I reinstalled my steering column today, along with linkage rods to trans, but when I installed the shift lever, I'm only able to go into two gears. Not sure if it's 1st and rev or 2nd and 3rd. (Truck currently not drivable)

Just wondered if there is some trick I'm missing. I guess there must be a spring in there, that keeps the lever forward in the 1st/rev position and then yiu need to push slightly when going up into 2nd?

I think (new to this myself) that the default position is forward in between 2nd and 3rd and you have to pull the handle back (towards driver) to get between 1st and reverse.

Re: 3 on the tree shift lever

Make sure both levers are in neutral. I ran in to a similar issue hooking mine up. If only one lever is moving, be sure it is in neutral before you try to move the other.

Re: 3 on the tree shift lever

It is already forward and you pull to rev and 1st.

Like already stated, make sure they're in neutral on the tranny too, you can click it with your hand. Make sure they're level as well and that little middle finger guide thing can move back and forth freely engaging either rod with your finger under the hood. Even just a little off and it'll snag and get stuck in gear.

Re: 3 on the tree shift lever

I'll try disconnecting the linkage to see if it will shift properly. I have the trans in neutral, and I can manualy move both levers on the column to get all 3 gears and reverse. Just can't do it from inside the cab with the column shift lever
